51-Year-Old Lucy Barragan and 17-Year-Old Grandson Die in Grand Avenue Multi-Vehicle Crash in Phoenix

 
Phoenix, AZ (July 6, 2021) – Monday, Annette Madrid and her 6-year-old son Jose sustained critical injuries, her 51-year-old mom Lucy Barragan and her 17-year-old son Alonso died in a multi-vehicle crash on Grand Avenue.
 
The west Phoenix fatal crash happened Monday after Midnight on July 5, near 37th Avenue.
 
Reportedly, a male driver who was impaired was unable to avoid another vehicle that had been involved in a non-injury collision.
 
The impact then sent the vehicle carrying two women and the children into oncoming traffic and it was hit by an eastbound vehicle.
 
As a result, two passengers died at the scene.
 
Moreover, authorities confirmed a man and a woman died and six others sustained injuries.
 
Further, police later identified the family who was involved; Annette Madrid and her 6-year-old son Jose are still recovering in the hospital, but her mother Lucy Barragan and son Alonso died.
 
Currently, investigators are reviewing evidence, a process that includes reconstructing the crash scene to learn more about what happened.
 
Meanwhile, relatives are now preparing for funerals for Lucy and Alonso. They’ve launched a Fundraiser to help with expenses.
