Ann Kupp and Joseph French Dead in Ventura Train Crash on Auto Center Drive
VENTURA, CA (June 11, 2020) – Early Tuesday night, pedestrians Ann Kupp and Joseph French died in a train accident on Auto Center Drive near Ventura Auto Center.
The authorities received reports of the crash just before 6:30 p.m. The incident happened near a bridge crossing at Santa Clara River, between Oxnard and Ventura.
Upon receiving the reports, the emergency medical crews and law enforcement came to Auto Center Drive. When they arrived, they declared a man and a woman dead at the scene as well as a dog.
Moreover, the police confirmed that the crash involved a southbound Union Pacific train.
“Our hearts go out to the families impacted by this tragedy,” Union Pacific spokesman Tim McMahan said. “We remind everyone to stay away from trains and other railroad property, including trestles, yards, and equipment. Never walk between the rails or (in) areas that are not designated railroad crossings.”
