Angelica Martinez Detained Following DUI Accident That Injured Pedestrian Near P and 16th Streets

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (July 25, 2019) – A DUI hit-and-run driver struck and injured a pedestrian Tuesday night, near 16th and P streets.
 
According to Sacramento Police, the pedestrian suffered serious injuries. However, they are expected to recover.
 
The 10:30 p.m. incident prompted police to close off the area with yellow crime tape as they investigated what had happened.
 
According to Sacramento Police Officer Karl Chan, the suspected vehicle fled from the scene after striking and seriously injuring the victim. Shortly after, paramedics brought the patient to a hospital while officers worked to locate the whereabouts of the driver.
 
Fortunately, with the help of a witness who followed the suspect’s car, officers grew fortunate to arrest 28-year-old Angelica Martinez.
 
Turns out Martinez had been under the influence at the time and fled the scene to a Motel 6 on Jibboom Street, where officers found her.
 
Her car showed damage to the front fender and windshield.
