Andrew McClain Dies in Fatal Pedestrian Accident Near West Anaheim Street
LONG BEACH, CA (February 26, 2019) – Sunday morning, 43-year-old Andrew Francis McClain, was struck by a suspected DUI driver on the 710 Freeway.
Authorities received multiple calls about the fatal collision around 12:30 a.m. First responders arrived to the scene soon after, near West Anaheim Street.
According to reports, the male pedestrian from Costa Mesa was walking along the northbound lanes of the highway when an oncoming Toyota Prius struck him. The driver then pulled over and waited for officers to arrive.
Upon arrival, paramedics pronounced McClain dead on scene due to the impact of the crash. The Toyota driver was also consequently arrested on suspicion of DUI.
State Officials are currently working to determine why McClain was walking on the freeway at the time of the collision. Moreover, no further details about the accident are available at this time.
