Andrew Burney of Truckee Injured in Fatal Collision on Highway 120 [Groveland, CA]

Groveland, CA (May 30, 2024) – 25-year-old Andrew Burney of Truckee was injured in a fatal collision on Highway 120 past Wednesday noon.

CHP officers said 73-year-old James Brent of Humble, Texas, was driving a westbound 2024 Kia Forte with his 73-year-old female passenger, also from Humble, Texas. Driving in the opposite direction was 25-year-old Andrew Burney of Truckee, in a a 2013 Kia Soul.

Brent’s vehicle traveled over the double yellow lines into the path of Burney’s vehicle. 

The two vehicles collided head-on killing Brent’s passenger at the scene while Brent and Burney were airlifted to Modesto Medical Centers.

Troopers said all the people involved in the collision were wearing seatbelts.

In the meantime, the authorities withheld the identity of the female passenger pending family notification. 

Officers do not suspect alcohol and/or drugs as factors in the accident.
