Ruger Clark Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash in El Paso
El Paso, TX (January 6, 2024) – 17-year-old Anahi Leanos was killed in a Border Highway E collision early Friday morning.
The fatal collision happened about 1:30 a.m. at Fonseca Drive in South-Central El Paso.
Investigators said Leanos was driving a vehicle that broke down on the eastbound lane of Loop 375 at Mile Marker 56. She pulled over to the left emergency lane and thought the vehicle ran out of gas.
However, while she was waiting for assistance, a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Ruger Clark swerved in the middle lane.
Clark’s vehicle rear-ended Leanos’ stalled vehicle at high speed. Clark checked on Leanos took some things from her vehicle and fled.
Sadly, Leanos succumbed to her injuries at the accident scene.
After observing Clark on Alameda Avenue near Yarbrough Drive, Troopers conducted a traffic stop on Clark. The authorities took him to a local hospital for minor injuries he sustained in the collision.
Officers later booked Clark into the El Paso County Detention Facility and charged with intoxication manslaughter with a $100,000 bond and collision involving death with a $75,000 bond.
