At Least 7 People Hurt in Anaheim DUI Collision
ANAHEIM, CA (January 25, 2019) – An alleged DUI crash involving a pickup truck and an Orange County Transportation Authority bus on East Katella Avenue near the 57 Freeway left multiple people injured Thursday.
The precise number of people injured is unclear at this time but was reported to be between 7 and 15 patients. Their injuries range from minor to moderate, according to Anaheim Police Sgt. Jeff Mundy.
Mundy said the driver of a Chevy Silverado, described as a 29-year-old Indiana woman, crashed into the OCTA bus around 2:30 p.m. as it was coming off the 57 Freeway off-ramp.
News reports say the bus had 20 people on board at the time of the collision and between 7 to 15 people were hospitalized. Firefighters had to extricate at least one person from the Chevy.
The bus reportedly sustained rear passenger side damage. The driver of the Chevy pickup truck was unable to undergo a field sobriety test at the time but was arrested Thursday evening on suspicion of felony driving under the influence. She along with several others were recovering in a hospital as a Thursday evening.
An ongoing investigation of this crash is underway.
