Santa Rosa Man Alvin Minniefield Killed in DUI Crash, Philip Popick Arrested

 
Calistoga, CA (March 16, 2021) – On Monday, 62-year-old Deborah Abata of Santa Rosa was injured in a fatal head-on crash on Highway 29.
 
The deadly crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m. south of Larkmead Lane.
 
Officers said a southbound Subaru driver crossed over the centerline. It went into the path of a northbound Infiniti.
 
As a result, the Infiniti driver, 64-year-old Santa Rosa resident Alvin Minniefield, died, while his passenger, Abata, suffered major injuries.
 
Furthermore, rescuers took the Subaru driver, 30-year-old Philip Popick of Calistoga, to Queen of the Valley Medical Center with major injuries.
 
Officers arrested him for suspected felony DUI — drugs, causing major injury.
