Alonzo Prado, Nancy Haywood Among Injured, Mark Verdugo Arrested Following Multi-Vehicle DUI Accident at East Walnut Avenue and South Court Street
VISALIA, CA (June 24, 2019) – Three people suffered injuries following a June 15 DUI accident at East Walnut Avenue and South Court Street.
According to authorities, officers charged 18-year-old Mark Verdugo with DUI causing great bodily injuries and carrying an unregistered loaded handgun.
Around midnight, officers tried making a traffic stop on a Lamborghini at Walnut and Conyer streets. However, its driver, Verdugo refused to comply and sped up.
The Lamborghini ended up crashing into a southbound Lincoln MKZ and a northbound Toyota Camry at the South Court Street intersection.
Nancy Haywood, the 32-year-old driver of the Lincoln, suffered minor injuries. The Exeter woman and 23-year-old Alonzo Prado–the driver of the Toyota–suffered minor to serious injuries.
Prado, of Visalia, had a female passenger in his vehicle who suffered critical injuries. Medics rushed her and Prado to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.
Authorities are investigating this case further. Once Mark Verdugo is medically cleared, officers plan to arrest him.
