Alejandro Lopez-Gallardo Dies in Pedestrian Crash on 5 Freeway Near Stanwood Bryant Road
STANWOOD, WA (January 3, 2019) – A Mount Vernon man was hit and killed by a vehicle Monday night on the 5 Freeway near Stanwood Bryant Road.
Alejandro Lopez-Gallardo was the 30-year-old victim who was struck by a 2016 Lexus sedan around 10 p.m.
According to Washington State Patrol, someone in an ambulance contacted 911 after witnessing two people behave aggressively in a car that was traveling on the 5 Freeway. The vehicle then exited at the Highway 532 ramp and pulled over. For unknown reasons, troopers say a man from that vehicle exited the car, ran down the ramp and into the northbound lanes and was hit and killed by another driver.
Lopez-Gallardo was identified as that victim. That 66-year-old woman who struck Lopez-Gallardo was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital with unknown injuries.
An investigation of this crash is underway.
