Ainise Taimani Detained in Deadly DUI Accident on Highway 12 Near Mokelumne River Bridge
ISLETON, CA (May 29, 2019) – A passenger is dead, and a teen is under arrest following Sunday’s DUI solo-car accident on Highway 12 near the Mokelumne River Bridge.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 4 a.m. crash involved a 2012 Chevrolet heading westbound on Highway 12.
Ainise Taimani drifted off the road as she approached the Mokelumne River Bridge and struck a lamppost.
According to the CHP, two passengers were not wearing a seatbelt and thrown from the vehicle. One of them died in the crash while the other suffered major injuries. Neither passenger has been identified by the authorities.
Authorities subsequently arrested Taimani and booked her into the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp about 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
The teen was charged with three felonies of suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing bodily injury and other charges.
