Police Investigate T-Bone Crash on Gateway East in El Paso

El Paso, TX (February 17, 2024) – On Saturday evening, 42-year-old Adrian Dominguez from Socorro died in a crash on Gateway East.

Reportedly, a crash involving three vehicles on Saturday evening, Feb. 17 in East El Paso resulted in the death of a 42-year-old man, the El Paso Police report. 

The Special Traffic Investigators arrived at the scene of the crash, located at the 7700 block of Gateway East and the 1200 block of Giles, at 6:48 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17. 

According to police, a preliminary investigation showed that a VW Beetle, driven by Dominguez, was heading eastbound in the left-turn-only lane on the 7700 block of Gateway East. 

Dominguez entered the intersection on a red traffic light while the southbound traffic on Giles had a green light, leading to a “T-bone”-type collision with a southbound vehicle. 

Following the collision, the VW Beetle slid and struck an SUV that was stopped at a red light on the northbound lanes of Giles. 

Dominguez was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries from the crash. 

Police identified the main cause of the collision as the disregard of a red traffic light.
