Abel Rodriguez Killed, Jesse Fletes Charged With DUI Following Bicycle Crash on North Wilson Way Near East Oak Street
STOCKTON, CA (January 23, 2019) – A 20-year-old bicyclist lost his life Friday evening when he was struck by a DUI driver on North Wilson Way near East Oak Street.
Abel Rodriguez, 20, was identified as the fatal victim in last Friday’s crash. Around 6 p.m., Rodriguez purportedly exited a parking lot and began riding his bicycle north across Wilson Way when he was hit by a 24-year-old Toyota driver, believed to be traveling faster than the posted speed limit on Wilson Way. The vehicle apparently did not have its headlights turned on when the incident happened.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after, Jesse Fletes was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and with a suspended license.
