Abe Mejia Detained for DUI After Striking, Hitting Woman and Child at East Van Buren Street and North 24th Street
PHOENIX, AZ (January 30, 2020) — A woman and a child suffered minor injuries in Saturday’s DUI pedestrian accident on East Van Buren Street and North 24th Street.
The collision took place at approximately 5:00 p.m. According to police officers, Abe Mejia tried making a left turn onto North 24th Street after heading westbound on East Van Buren Street. There, he struck a woman and an 8-year-old boy in a marked crosswalk.
Police arrived shortly after and arrested 58-year-old Mejia on suspicion of DUI.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the woman and child to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
