8 People Hospitalized Following Sunnyvale Pedestrian Accident
SUNNYVALE, CA (April 24, 2019) – A driver deliberately struck and injured eight pedestrians at El Camino Real and Sunnyvale Saratoga Road Tuesday.
According to officials, the driver intentionally plowed into a crowd after having shown no attempt to brake.
As a result, eight people suffered injuries including a 13-year-old girl.
Following the accident, authorities handcuffed the 2010 Toyota Corolla driver. However, authorities are still working to determine the possible motive for his actions.
During the 6:40 p.m. crash, the driver was heading west on El Camino Real. He then veered into the crosswalk and sidewalk before striking the pedestrians. Subsequently, the car struck a tree, significantly damaging the front-end of the vehicle.
Authorities are looking into the cause of this crash.
