Elderly Man Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Drivers on South Vermont Avenue
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (December 21, 2019) – A 73-year-old man was killed in an apparent hit-and-run crash late Saturday afternoon in South Los Angeles.
The crash happened around 5:17 p.m. at South Vermont Avenue and West 108th Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was walking westbound across Vermont Avenue when a 2003 Chevrolet hit him. He was then struck by another vehicle while lying in the roadway.
As a result, the unidentified victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Both drivers did not stop to render aid.
Alcohol and/or drugs were suspected factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
