Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck on Yosemite Parkway in Merced
MERCED, CA (December 18, 2019) – A 63-year-old man died in a pedestrian crash Wednesday evening in Merced.
The fatal incident happened around 7:40 p.m. on Yosemite Parkway near Marthella Avenue.
According to police, a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on Yosemite Parkway when it struck the pedestrian. Police said the man was not using a crosswalk and was in the middle of the road.
As a result, the victim suffered major injuries and died at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
The driver of the Silverado, 27-year-old Nathan Rodriguez of Fontana, stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
