1 Dead and 1 Injured after Two Vehicles Collide near Hilltop Drive
CHOLLAS VIEW, CA (March 18, 2019) – A 62-year-old woman lost her life Monday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision on 47th Street. Authorities did not disclose the identity of the victim.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened at about 2:30 PM. A white Camry, driven by the victim, failed to stop for the red light on Hilltop Drive. There, a red Toyota Camry, driven a 36-year-old woman, broadsided the westbound vehicle.
Emergency responders transported both drivers to Scripps Mercy Hospital. Unfortunately, the white Camry driver succumbed to her injuries. Meanwhile, the red Camry driver received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators continue to work on identifying other possible factors that contributed to the fatal crash. Witnesses are encouraged to cooperate with authorities as soon as possible. Additional information will be released following the conclusion of the investigation.
