1 Woman, 5 Children Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 4 Near Hillcrest Avenue
Antioch, CA (July 30, 2021) – A two-vehicle crash on Highway 4 west of Hillcrest Avenue left 6 people hospitalized on Thursday morning.
The incident happened on July 29 on Highway 4 west of Hillcrest Avenue at about 7:06 a.m.
According to CHP Officer Adam Lane, the collision involved a Toyota Camry and a van. The impact of the collision trapped the woman who was driving the Camry in her vehicle. Firefighters helped in extricating her from the wreck.
Meanwhile, the children ages 2 to 11 were able to get out of the car by themselves.
The severity of their injuries ranged from minor to major. Furthermore, officers said that emergency responders airlifted the 2-year-old victim to the hospital with a broken leg. The other injured patients were brought to the hospital by ground ambulance.
The California Highway Patrol has not released the complete identifications of the people involved in the incident. Moreover, it is also unclear what events led to the incident.
The driver of the van did not sustain any injuries from the crash.

Due to the extent of the incident, authorities shut down all eastbound lanes of the freeway for preliminary investigation. Officers issued a SigAlert from 7:39 a.m. until 7:57 a.m.
