Man in Scooter Injured in Hooper Avenue Hit-and-Run Crash

Central-Alameda, CA (October 15, 2021) – On October 14, a 55-year-old man on a scooter was critically injured in Hooper Avenue hit-and-run crash.

The accident took place before 10:40 a.m. near East 48th Place.

Police said the man was northbound on a scooter approaching East 48th Place when a gray Honda Civic struck him.

Investigating officers said the Honda Civic driven by a red-haired woman was negotiating an unsafe left turn onto East 48th Place when the accident happened.

The man was thrown off his scooter onto the street. The Honda driver, on the other hand, stopped momentarily but led the scene.

Immediately, the paramedics took the man to a hospital in critical condition. Officers said that the Honda Civic is a 2012 to 2015 model with tinted windows. It also has chrome tires, a rear spoiler, and no front license plate. Police said the car may possess damage to its rear bumper or the bumper may be missing entirely.
