5 Hurt in Santa Ana Wrong Way DUI Crash
SANTA ANA, CA (June 10, 2019) – Five people, including a wrong-way DUI driver, suffered major injuries following Saturday’s crash on the 5 Freeway near East First Street.
According to authorities, the two-car accident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes.
California Highway Patrol said four people in a white Acura TLX struck a wrong-way black car in the northbound carpool lane. It appears the driver in the black vehicle had been traveling southbound at the time.
The four Acura occupants, as well as the wrong-way driver who authorities say was under the influence, suffered injuries. Officers plan to arrest the driver on suspicion of DUI.
The details regarding the patients’ conditions were unavailable; however, authorities plan to investigate this incident further.
Violent car collisions occur due to speeding, drunk driving and distracted driving. There are too many DUI accidents that occur in California. To avoid being a statistic, never drink and drive and look out for trouble when on the road. If you see a reckless driver on the road, alert authorities immediately.
