Runaway Golf Cart Crashes into Crowd in Pebble Beach Leaving Five People Injured
PEBBLE BEACH, CA (June 14, 2019) – Five people were injured after being struck by a runaway golf cart Friday morning at the 16th hole in the Pebble Beach Golf Course.
The accident occurred around 10:26 a.m. at Whitman Lane and Palmero Way.
According to witnesses, a vendor was delivering several boxes in a golf cart near a concession stand on No. 16 at Pebble Beach. As the vendor got out of the cart, one of the boxes fell onto the accelerator, causing the golf cart to start moving and hit a crowd.
A total of five people were injured, including a 25-year-old man from Highland, Texas, a 43-year-old man from West Jordan, Utah, a 58-year-old woman from Carmel, California, a 58-year-old man from Modesto, California, and an 82-year-old from Modesto.
One person had a broken arm, one had a spinal injury and the rest had a variety of minor injuries. Two patients were hospitalized.
No additional information was provided at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
