4 Hospitalized, Israel Bazan Arrested after Hit-and-Run DUI Crash in Modesto
MODESTO, CA (January 29, 2019) – On Tuesday night, four people were injured in a DUI accident on Beard Brook Park.
According to Modesto Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:00 PM near Morton Boulevard.
As per reports, a four-door Saturn driven by 29-year-old Israel Bazan intentionally tried to hit homeless people who lived at the park. The driver struck a pole shortly after he was trying to flee the scene.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported a woman who suffered moderate injuries to a nearby hospital. Three other victims sustained minor injuries and went to a local hospital on their own to seek treatment. Their current medical condition is unclear at this time.
Authorities stated Bazan was injured and remained hospitalized, a warrant was issued for his arrest for DUI felony hit-and-run and attempted murder.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released to the public.
