Injury in Vancouver Pedestrian Crash
Vancouver, WA (May 26, 2021) – On Monday, a 35-year-old man was injured in a pedestrian accident on State Route 14.
The accident took place before midnight at the 164th Avenue intersection.
The officers said a driver was exiting State Route 14 when they struck the pedestrian who was walking in the lane.
Immediately, responders took the victim to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, the authorities said the driver was not impaired and no charges were filed.
So, as a driver, don’t speed. Always follow the speed limit and never use your phone; always be cautious of your surroundings.
Pedestrian Accidents Could Result in Injuries
Moreover, in today’s current state of affairs, more individuals are walking as a new way to escape home for a while.
As a result, pedestrian accidents have also spiked in popularity, so has the risk of pedestrian accidents.
Pedestrian accidents are incidents in which someone walking or crossing a road is injured by a vehicle striking them.
This type of accident, more often than not, can be avoided.
A common cause of these unfortunate incidents includes drivers speeding. Similarly, motorists who speed do not have enough reaction time to stop or yield for pedestrians who have the right of way. Especially now, with roadways emptier than ever across the world, drivers disobeying the speed limit is at an all-time high. Thus, pedestrian safety is at an all-time low.
Meanwhile, here are some things that we can do to avoid accidents that could result in serious injuries.
– First, always avoid dangerous behaviors: always walk on the sidewalk (no jaywalking), stay sober, and make eye contact with drivers, don’t assume the driver can see you.
– Then, closely look before you step: cross streets at marked crosswalks/intersections. In addition, obey traffic signals, and watch for turning vehicles.
