32-Year-Old Man Injured in DUI Crash on 179th Avenue Southeast [Monroe, WA]

32-Year-Old Passenger Hospitalized in DUI Crash on 154th Street

Monroe, WA (October 23, 2021) On Friday, a 32-year-old man was injured in a solo DUI crash on 179th Avenue Southeast.

Monroe police say that they have received reports of a white 2-door car, with its headlights off and spinning on a parking lot.

Police tailed the vehicle on North Kelsey Street. The driver is said to be straddled two lanes at a time, going back and forth the lane.

Authorities tried to stop the car near the crossing on Kelsey Street and Blueberry Lane.

Meanwhile, the suspect vehicle spun out as it took a wide turn onto Blueberry.

The car exceeded 60 mph while it is pulling away from the police.

As Police ended the pursuit, the vehicle hit a center lane divider on the intersection of 179th Avenue Southeast and 154th Street Southeast.

Both the 36-year-old driver and his 32-year-old passenger were injured due to the crash.

Furthermore, they are both sent to EvergreenHealth Monroe. Both are expected to survive.

When driving, it is important to follow all driving laws and the conditions of the road. If you see any vehicle or driver that looks dangerous, keep your distance. If you see a vehicle weaving in and out of the lanes, following too closely, or traveling at a higher rate of speed, move over a few lanes and get out of their way. Drive defensively to ensure the safety of surrounding vehicles, drivers, and pedestrians.

It is important to always abide by all traffic laws and to do your part to prevent devastating consequences to you and others. Thus, if you find yourself unable to safely operate a vehicle, there are always other options for transportation.
