3 Hurt in Single-Car DUI Accident on Road 208 in Terra Bella
TERRA BELLA, CA (July 10, 2019) – Three teens suffered injuries Friday following a DUI solo-vehicle crash on Road 208 near Avenue 80.
According to officers, the crash unfolded just before 9 a.m. A 16-year-old boy driving a Buick Verano with two teens in the car attempted to pass up a vehicle but lost control at high speeds. Subsequently, the Buick struck a power pole before hitting a chain-link fence.
Following the accident, the driver and a 16-year-old passenger attempted to flee, but officers captured both minors at a nearby orchard. A 15-year-old passenger was also recovered inside the vehicle.
Shortly after, paramedics transported all three to Sierra View Medical Center and police arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
