3 Hospitalized in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Alfred Harrell Highway near Fairfax Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 3, 2021) – Thursday afternoon, three people sustained injuries in a head-on crash on Alfred Harrell Highway near Fairfax Road.
According to California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 2:17 p.m. Moreover, it occurred on Alfred Harrell Highway between Goodmanville and Fairfax Road, heading to Hart Park.
Reports revealed that a westbound vehicle traveling the wrong way collided head-on with an eastbound park ranger car. CHP said that the female driver of the passenger vehicle failed to notice that she was traveling in the wrong lane.
Furthermore, responders confirmed that the two park rangers inside the patrol vehicle sustained moderate injuries. Meanwhile, the other driver sustained major injuries. Paramedics transported the three patients to Kern Medical.
Moreover, CHP said that one of the park rangers made a tourniquet for the woman’s arm after the crash.
Meanwhile, officials believe that alcohol and drugs played a role in the collision.
Also, the crash closed Alfred Harrell Highway for an hour but has long since reopened.
