3 Killed and 1 Injured in Accident on Market Street and Raven Street [San Diego, CA]

1 Hospitalized after San Diego Fatal Crash on Market Street

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 28, 2020) – Tuesday night, three people died and another suffered injuries in an accident on Market Street and Raven Street.
 
According to reports, the incident occurred just after 11:00 p.m. A patrol officer noticed a 2003 Honda Pilot traveling without its headlights on. This initial report occurred near 24th Street and Island Avenue in Sherman Heights. Moreover, this particular statement came from San Diego police Officer John Buttle and Lt. Shawn Takeuchi.
 
Afterward, the officers found out that the vehicle was stolen earlier from Chula Vista. Takeuchi confirmed that the SUV drove past a red light on Market Street.
 
As the authorities tried to stop the vehicle, the driver fled and headed east on Market Street. While driving at a high speed, he veered around other vehicles. Meanwhile, the officer who attempted to pull over the SUV lost sight of the vehicle on Market Street near I-15. However, the Police Department went on searching for the stolen car.
 
The police confirmed that the SUV traveled at a speed of 100 mph until the driver lost control. Then, it hit a light pole and a tree on Market Street and Raven Street.
 
The impact of the crash threw off the two occupants from the car. The authorities do not believe that the four occupants wore seat belts.
 
As a result, the driver and two passengers succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, responders transported the third passenger to a hospital with critical injuries.
 
On the other hand, the authorities haven’t released any information about the victims.
 
The crash remains under active investigation.
