Three Hospitalized after Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 68 in Monterey
Monterey, CA(April 23, 2020)– Thursday morning, three unidentified individuals sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 68.
Authorities responded after receiving crash reports at around 11:20 a.m. on April 23. Cal Fire, Caltrans, and the Monterey County arrived on Highway 68 shortly after. Upon their arrival, they located seven separate vehicles at the scene.
Reportedly, a Penske delivery truck was traveling east on Highway 68 when it crossed a double-yellow line into westbound traffic. Then colliding into five vehicles before landing on top of a Mercedes E-45. However, events leading to the collision remains unclear.
As a result of the impact, a 75-year-old woman, driving the Mercedes from La Selva, immediately taken to Natividad Medical Center while two other drivers were transported to Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula for further aide.
Moreover, the authorities closed the surrounding area for two hours during cleanup and preliminary duties.
