3 Hurt in 2-Car Accident in Carlsbad

 
CARLSBAD, CA (July 1, 2019) – Three people were injured Saturday morning after a 2-car accident at Rancho Santa Fe Road and Camino Junipero.
 
According to Carlsbad Police, the collision happened around 9:35 a.m., on Rancho Sana Fe Road. First responders arrived to the area near Camino Junipero shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls.
 
Police say a 25-year-old driver of a Hyundai Tucson blew through a red light at the intersection. There, they struck the passenger side of a black Honda Accord.
 
The two occupants inside the Honda were later identified as 22-year-old men. They appeared to be making a left turn from Rancho Santa Fe Road at the time of the accident.
 
All three victims suffered moderate to severe injuries as a result of the impact. Paramedics eventually transported them to a nearby hospital for further treatment. However, there has been no update on their current condition.
 
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
 
At this time, investigators are looking further into the cause including drug intoxication.
