3 Injured in Head-On Crash on Highway 101 [Montecito, CA]

Montecito, CA (March 17, 2024) – Three people were injured following a head-on crash on Highway 101 early Saturday morning.

It was about 2:45 a.m. when the vehicle crash between a red Chevy Silverado and a tan Chevy Suburban happened near the Hot Springs Road offramp.

Both drivers incurred moderate to severe injuries while another was also hurt. 

Firefighters extricated both drivers from their vehicles.

Investigators said the pickup truck ended up on its side and the Suburban was upright. There is no information on which vehicle hopped the freeway divider or drove in the wrong direction.

Meanwhile, officers closed the southbound lane from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. as they investigated.
