3 Hurt Following San Diego Accident
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 7, 2020) — Three victims were injured following a fiery car crash on the 5 Freeway near the 8 Freeway junction.
San Diego Fire-Rescue crews responded to reports of a vehicle on fire on the southbound side of the 5 Freeway around 11:30 a.m. However, the events leading up are currently unclear.
By 12:30 p.m., officials said three people required extrication from a vehicle. They later brought two victims to UC San Diego hospital for further treatment of major injuries. The third person was taken to Scripps Memorial hospital with minor injuries.
The surrounding area on 5 Freeway was closed down while crews cleared the scene. Because the cause and other details pertaining to the crash remain unclear, officials encourage witnesses to contact them with information.
