Triple Fatality Reported in Olancha Accident
OLANCHA, CA (July 11, 2019) – A two-car crash on Highway 395 near Highway 190 claimed three unidentified victims lives Sunday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 40-year-old driver of a white Dodge pickup truck driver allowed the vehicle to veer off the road for unknown reasons.
As the car continued northbound on the right shoulder, the pickup skidded out of control and traveled into the southbound lanes.
There, a southbound Ford occupied by four people collided with the Dodge, given the limited time available to the Ford driver to avoid the impending accident.
Shortly after, Olancha and Lone Pine volunteer fire departments, CHP and Inyo County Sheriff’s deputies responded. Paramedics brought several people to nearby hospitals for immediate assistance. However, there have been no updates on their current condition.
In the wake of the accident, the driver and sole passenger of the Dodge, a 34-year-old, died. In addition, a 15-year-old Ford passenger also perished.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
It’s unclear what drove this accident at this time, but the Bishop CHP office is investigating this case further.
We would like to take this moment to send our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and friends of the victims.
