Driver Fatally Struck after Getting Out of His Car on 91 Freeway in Compton
COMPTON, CA (September 30, 2019) – A 26-year-old Carson man was killed after being struck by a vehicle late Monday evening in Compton.
The crash happened around 11:27 p.m. on eastbound 91 Freeway at Alameda Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Mercedes-Benz C300 when he got involved in a collision with a Scion XA. His vehicle came to rest facing the wrong way in the carpool lane.
The victim got out of his car and began walking in traffic lanes when a 2014 Ford Mustang struck him.
While lying in the roadway, the pedestrian was struck by a second vehicle moments later. That vehicle was described as Mercedes-Benz E350, driven by a 47-year-old Corona man.
As a result, the Carson man died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Scion, a 31-year-old Compton woman, was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
The fatal crash is still under investigation.
