1 Injured in University City Scooter Crash on Regents Road
UNIVERSITY CITY, CA (November 11, 2019) – A 21-year-old man required hospitalization after a car and scooter crash on Regents Road.
According to reports, an SUV run over a scooter rider. As a result, the scooter rider suffered life-threatening injuries.
Reports revealed that the victim rode a Razor scooter diagonally across Regents Road and Porte De Merano around 7:20 p.m. Meanwhile, a 52-year-old individual drove a southbound 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe on Regents Road. After that, the driver made a U-turn and ran over the 21-year-old scooter rider.
Officer John Buttle of the San Diego Police Department clarified that the street is a dead-end and the driver’s U-turn is not illegal.
As a result, the scooter driver suffered serious injuries, a lacerated liver, a collapsed lung, and a spinal fracture.
Authorities also ruled out alcohol and drugs as a factor in the collision.
