Chino Pursuit Crash on 60 Freeway Injures Two Police Officers
CHINO, CA (July 1, 2019) – Two police officers were injured following a pursuit crash early Monday morning in Chino.
The Chino police officers were in a separate patrol cars chasing a suspect in a gray Infiniti who was driving erratically, when they crashed in the eastbound lanes of 60 Freeway near Ramona Avenue around 1:22 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
One of the officers was able to exit the patrol car, but the other officer became trapped inside the second patrol car, which caught fire.
First responders were able to extricate the officer from the burning patrol car, who may have suffered a broken leg.
Both officers were taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries, and were released from treatment by Monday evening.
The suspect managed to escape, and officials are still working to locate the individual. Further investigation is underway.
