Vehicle Struck and Sheared Power Pole Following Collision on North Balboa Boulevard
Granada Hills, CA (July 28, 2020)– At least two people sustained injuries in a collision on North Balboa Boulevard on Saturday evening.
On July 25, at about 6:32 p.m., the two-vehicle collision occurred at 9800 North Balboa Boulevard.
The Los Angeles Fire Department rescued one victim that was trapped inside a tilted vehicle. LAFD said the person was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
There were two vehicles involved in the collision, a flipped SUV and a white sedan with a damaged hood. The SUV appeared to have collided into the power pole thus, breaking the pole into half.
The upper part of the pole remained connected to the power lines above.
Furthermore, the SUV driver was put on a stretcher while the victim in the sedan did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
Pending Investigation of Major Injury Crash
It is currently unclear what caused the collision however, firefighters said that speeding was probably committed. “High speed required to shear power pole,” LAFD officials said on Twitter. “It doesn’t pay, slow down.”
Moreover, the Los Angeles Police Department is still investigating the incident.
