DUI Driver Among Injured in Ramona Car Crash
RAMONA, CA (March 7, 2019) – Authorities are investigating an alleged DUI crash on Dye Road near Duraznitos Road that left two people with injuries Wednesday.
According to authorities, a suspected DUI driver and a second person suffered major injuries following the 4:30 p.m. collision.
A 56-year-old man operating a 2014 Mercedes Benz S550 drifted to the left and crossed into the eastbound lanes. As a result, the westbound Mercedes sideswiped a 2011 Subaru Forester, driven by a 53-year-old woman. Subsequently, the Mercedes plowed head-on into a 2013 Toyota Tundra, driven by a 74-year-old man.
The devastating crash prompted authorities to contact a helicopter to airlift the Toyota and Mercedes drivers to Palomar Hospital in Escondido and Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. Meanwhile, the Subaru driver received medical treatment at Pomerado Hospital in Poway.
From the investigation, officials have confirmed that impairment may have played a role in the crash.
