2 People Fatally Struck by Train in Mountain View and Burlingame

 
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (July 23, 2019) – Two pedestrians lost their lives Monday just hours apart when a southbound and northbound train fatally struck them near Castro Street and Central Expressway.
 
Around 4:45 p.m., one person died after being hit by train NB #261. The deadly incident which happened at the North Lane Crossing left the northbound lanes closed until 5:45 p.m.
 
According to the agency, 750 passengers on board the train suffered no injuries.
 
Following that crash, a southbound train fatally struck another person around 7:50 p.m. who had been trespassing near the Castro Street crossing.
 
The 118 passengers on board train SB #284 escaped injury. Per reports, these mark the eighth and ninth fatalities involving Caltrain this year.
