2 Dead in Crash With Tree in Santa Ana
SANTA ANA, CA (April 22, 2019) – Two people died in Saturday’s fiery crash on South Bear Street near West Alton Avenue.
The incident happened around 9:18 p.m. According to authorities, officials received calls about a car on fire in the 3200 block of South Bear Street.
Upon arrival, officers found a car fully engulfed in flames and contacted Orange County Fire Authority.
Detectives learned that the occupants, whom firefighters found deceased after extinguishing the fire, may have been racing another vehicle. The car had been traveling north on Bear Street when its driver lost control and struck a tree.
The fatal victims have yet to be identified by the coroner’s office. As far as the other driver, his or her whereabouts and identity remain unknown.
