SCSO Deputy and Man Hospitalized after a Patrol Vehicle Accident on Watt Avenue in Sacramento
Sacramento, CA (November 4, 2021) – Thursday afternoon, two people sustained injuries after an SCSO patrol vehicle accident on Watt Avenue.
The incident in Sacramento happened at around 3:30 p.m. on November 4 near Elkhorn Boulevard.
Reportedly, deputies were driving on Watt Avenue near Elkhorn Boulevard when a man threw an object at their windshield.
The deputies then stopped and talked to the man who, at some point, an altercation broke out.
Meanwhile, the patrol vehicle began to roll backward. One of the deputies was able to get out of the way and tried to stop the patrol vehicle.
Moreover, the other deputy turned and tried to hold back the vehicle while the man was on the ground. The vehicle still ended up hitting the deputy and man.
As a result, both sustained superficial abrasions to their extremities. Neither had any broken bones or internal injuries.
Further, SCSO said the man was medically cleared and taken to the Sacramento County Main Jail on felony and misdemeanor charges.
A vehicle accident investigation is underway, as is the policy for all collisions.
