2 Hurt in Temecula Police Pursuit on Highway 79
TEMECULA, CA (December 9, 2019) – Two people sustained injuries after a police pursuit on Highway 79 on December 5.
According to reports, police began a pursuit after reports of a stolen vehicle. A man and a 17-year-old boy sustained serious injuries when the car overturned on Highway 79. The chase started before 8:00 p.m.
CHP officers investigated a crash on Highway 79 near Sage Road when a westbound 1995 Honda Accord hit a parked American Medical Response ambulance. The Honda then made a U-turn and drove east. CHP officers began the chase and tried to pull it over. Unfortunately, the driver escaped.
A few miles after, the Accord hit a dirt embankment on the shoulder near Highway 371 and rolled over. The impact sent the motorists off the vehicle. They didn’t wear the seat belts at the time of the crash.
Officers found out that the involved vehicle had been reported stolen.
The two occupants sustained critical injuries.
