2 Pickups Collide Head-On in Mountain Center
MOUNTAIN CENTER, CA (July 23, 2019) – A head-on Highway 74 collision near Palm Desert left two people injured Saturday afternoon.
According to a California Highway Patrol incident log, the accident befell near mile marker 86.28. The incident temporarily shut down access between Palm Desert and Mountain Center.
Upon arrival at the 4:30 p.m. crash, officials found two significantly damaged vehicles. Police described the vehicles as a gray Nissan Titan and a white pickup truck. Witnesses and Good Samaritans at the scene, stranded on the two-lane mountain roadway, began rendering aid and comfort to the two injured drivers.
One driver sustained minor injuries while the others suffered moderate injuries, galvanizing paramedics to bring them both to a nearby hospital.
CHP officers are investigating the ultimate cause of the crash since details remain scant.
