Drivers Injured in Two-Vehicle Accident in El Mirage
EL MIRAGE, CA (July 25, 2019) – A man and a woman suffered injuries during Tuesday’s head-on crash on El Mirage Road near Sheep Creek Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 42-year-old Adelanto man driving a Nissan Sentra westbound on El Mirage Road veered into oncoming traffic. There, his Nissan struck an eastbound 2013 Ford Focus head-on.
A preliminary investigation proved that the male driver of the Nissan fell asleep, allowing his vehicle to drift into the eastbound lanes.
As a result, the Adelanto man, as well as the 46-year-old Lancaster woman driving the Ford, required medical attention. Paramedics airlifted both patients to Loma Linda Medical Center with major injuries.
So far, alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the accident. However, officials will soon determine the ultimate liabilities.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
