2 Hurt in Oakland Accident near 98th Avenue and Interstate 580
OAKLAND, CA (November 18, 2021) – Wednesday morning, two deputies sustained injuries in a police pursuit crash near 98th Avenue and Interstate 580.
According to Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ray Kelly, the incident started at around 11:00 a.m. Authorities spotted a stolen blue truck near 170th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in San Leandro. Then, the stolen vehicle struck an Alameda County Sheriff’s Office patrol car.
Thus, a deputy attempted to grab and pull the driver of the stolen vehicle but was dragged. Then, the vehicle fled the scene on the wrong way of Interstate 580.
Moreover, officials confirmed that at some point, the suspect driver carjacked another vehicle.
Furthermore, the incident ended when the suspect was involved in a crash near 98th Avenue and westbound Interstate 580.
Meanwhile, responders said that two deputies sustained non-life-threatening in the incident.
