Fatal Fiery Accident Reported in Merced
MERCED, CA (December 6, 2019) — A fiery rollover crash on Santa Fe Drive and Franklin Road claimed two people’s lives Thursday morning.
The deadly incident occurred just after 3:00 a.m. Authorities believe a 2005 Toyota Highlander driver lost control after traveling at a high rate of speed. The Toyota subsequently rolled multiple times before landing on its roof and rupturing in flames.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a man and a woman in the front seat died while two others in the back suffered minor to critical injuries.
Crews were forced to close the area for investigations and clean up.
At this time, the identities of the fatal victims have yet to be determined.
