2 Killed in Modesto Accident on Highway 132 near San Joaquin River

 
MODESTO, CA (February 7, 2022) – Sunday morning, two people died in a vehicle crash on Highway 132 near San Joaquin River.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol Modesto office spokesman Officer Tom Olsen, the incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. Moreover, it occurred on Highway 132, just east of the San Joaquin River.
 
Reports revealed that a westbound 2011 GMC veered off towards the north edge of the road. Then, it struck multiple trees before coming into rest.
 
Moreover, responders pronounced two male passengers of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Hayward resident and a 36-year-old San Jose resident, dead at the scene. Authorities said that the driver of the GMC fled the scene after the crash.
 
Furthermore, the officials described the driver as a man in his 20s and wearing a dark hoodie and jeans. “It’s possible the driver later got a ride with a passing motorist,” CHP added.
 
Meanwhile, the incident closed Highway 132 between River and Gates roads for a few hours.
