Skateboarding Accident on Estrella Avenue Hurts 12-Year-Old Girl

San Diego, CA (September 10, 2020) – On Wednesday, a 12-year-old girl was severely injured in a skateboarding accident on Estrella Avenue and Polk Avenue.

San Diego Police officer John Buttle said the accident took place before 5:30 p.m. wherein the victim sustained severe injuries, including a brain bleed

A 42-year-old man was traveling on a 2011 Toyota Sienna northbound on Estrella Avenue. He took the intersection at Polk Avenue and a 12-year- old girl riding her skateboard downhill eastbound on Polk Avenue crashed into the minivan’s left rear bumper, Buttle said.

Rescuers took the victim to Rady Children’s Hospital for treatment of a fractured skull and a brain bleed.

Meanwhile, there is no available update on the girl’s condition.
