Nearly a Dozen Hurt after Roof of Gardena Casino Collapses

GARDENA, CA (July 17, 2019) – Eleven people suffered minor to moderate injuries after a casino roof partially collapsed on Rosecrans Avenue near Vermont Avenue Monday.

Larry Flynt’s Lucky Lady Casino located at 1045 Rosecrans Ave. drew crews to its quarters around 10:09 a.m.

According to officials, 11 people required medical attention, 10 of whom suffered minor injuries and one sustained moderate injuries.

The Fire Department has yet to determine the ultimate cause that drove the collapse since the establishment did not undergo any recent repair or construction.

There were no signs of flames, but a water leak had been reported. A casino spokesperson said the casino would close its doors for the rest of the day, despite officials claiming the area safe.

Per aerial footage, ceiling panels and other parts collapsed on at least one cards table and the area near it.
