1 Dead in Ramona Auto Accident on Mussey Grade Road near Foster Truck Trail

RAMONA, CA (March 28, 2023) – Friday afternoon, a person died in a tragic crash on Mussey Grade Road in Ramona.

The incident happened just after 4:00 p.m. on Mussey Grade Road near Foster Truck Trail.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet 2500 driver headed south on Mussey Grade Road. Meanwhile, a Ramona Unified School District bus with two juveniles occupants drove north.

As the 56-year-old truck driver took a left-hand curve, he lost control and approached the northbound lane. Then, the truck went into the path of the oncoming school bus.

Then, the truck went up a small dirt embankment until it went back east across both lanes. Eventually, the truck stopped, trapping the driver inside.

Moreover, responders airlifted the driver to Palomar Hospital in Escondido. However, he later succumbed to injuries.

Then, responders took the 48-year-old bus driver to Palomar Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Moreover, the two children sustained no injuries.

Also, the authorities haven’t identified whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
